The Forum: Finding common ground and turning shared priorities into legislative action
The Forum is a new, multi-state initiative now running in South Carolina, Nevada, and New Hampshire. It is a cross-partisan, statewide effort that empowers residents in each state to set the agenda on the issues that matter most.
We aim to mobilize thousands of people to share perspectives with each other on how their state should improve, and to create pathways for people-powered legislative change.
The mission: To bring state residents together to identify shared priorities, deliberate on solutions, and champion citizen-driven legislation.
The vision: Each state enables citizen deliberation to build shared understanding and consensus across the political spectrum, encourages participation in the democratic process, and promotes representative civic leadership.
How it works: Residents in each state are invited to join a 1) state-dedicated online platform, 2) participate in face-to-face deliberative forums, and 3) advocate for broadly supported recommendations with elected leaders and fellow community members.
The Forum’s staff and advisory teams include experienced, politically diverse leaders from across each state. The Forum is a nonprofit, nonpartisan project of OnePeople, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, funded entirely by charitable donations—not by political parties, campaigns, or special interests.
