FAQs

  • Common Good AI is a nonprofit organization that enables you and your organization to host dialogues, solve problems, and find common ground through collective intelligence. Using pro-social digital tools, Common Good AI engages large numbers of people, far more than would be possible in a traditional “town hall” setting, to create a dialogue that builds consensus and shared understanding. We support you and your organization from pre-planning all the way to communicating results. Our services include:

    • Conducting strategic analysis to identify opportunities and challenges for collaboration

    • Facilitating the use of digital tools to enable you to effectively reach more stakeholders

    • Translate the results of your digital engagement into action plans and strategy development

If your organization is interested in working with us, please reach out at info@commongoodai.org.

  • Common Good AI can design and support end-to-end processes using digital tools to compliment in-person engagements. Multiple digital tools can be used for multi-stage consultations, where the outcomes of the first phase shapes the next phase.

With new digital tools, Common Good AI enriches outreach by:

    • Reaching large numbers of people; we’ve successful hosted dialogues with over 1,500 people.

    • Supporting participants to interact with each other’s ideas in ways that build greater understanding and respect.

    • Reducing unconscious bias in facilitators and participants: people react to the ideas, not the individual.

    • Balancing voices, so all are heard, not just those that speak loudest.

    • Enabling people to engage when it’s convenient for them, allowing more diverse groups to share their views.

  • We build tailored engagements based on the unique context of each community, informed by individuals and groups from those communities. We design experiences that move beyond LLM synthesis, rather it’s driven by language and culture.

To ensure your collaboration is a success, it takes approximately 3-4 weeks to design a process, possibly more if you are engaging over 100 people. If you want to discuss further, email us at info@commongoodai.org so we can explore working together.

  • Common Good AI is committed to using the best digital tools for the job. There are many deliberative tech tools available, and all of them have different strengths and weaknesses. This space is ever evolving, and we are continually researching and vetting technologies to see if they would be a good addition to our offering. We have a close working relationship with CrowdSmart, and we’re excited to use their technology to power engagements at scale.

  • Common Good AI is committed to a “big tent” approach, and we want to include AI and other digital tools that support our mission. If you have questions about the technology we use or our open source policy, feel free to reach out at info@commongoodai.org

  • Collective intelligence is a well-developed scientific discipline rooted in the concept that a cognitively diverse group of people working together will come up with a better solution than an individual alone. Collective intelligence leverages collaboration and communication, often assisted by technology, to create solutions to complex, multifaceted problems. By engaging a wide range of stakeholders, we leverage the power of diverse perspectives and experiences to use collective intelligence to solve complex problems.
